Meet the 'Sharpies'

STEVE: Guitar & Vocals.

Steve is a founder member of the band and does a hell of a lot of work behind the scenes, arranging practice venues and scheduling gigs. He started out as a Drummer aged twelve, then a Singer in the 1980's who needed to do something with his hands whilst singing ...,. so took up the guitar! He also plays keyboard and thrives wherever there's a stage, a band and a chance to make music that brings people together.

MARTIN: Drums & Percussion.

Martin is an experienced drummer and percussionist who moved to Yorkshire a few years ago from the South. He has been involved in many music projects and gained enormous experience playing in several bands. He also teaches drums and percussion.

RACHEL: Vocals.

Rachel has been singing in bands since 1992, starting as lead vocalist in two popular Scarborough bands. After a break to raise a family, she returned ten years ago into the folk/country circuit playing at various festivals.

BILLY: Trombone

Billy took up Trombone in 2018 and has played in various youth bands in and around Scarborough. He also plays guitar in a covers band. He has been involved with many different musical projects spanning various genres and enjoys playing live.

DAN: Trumpet

Dan, born and bred in Yorkshire, has been playing Trumpet for the last ten years. He has worked his way through the Scarborough Music Centre bands and various other ensembles. When he's not playing music he spends his time carving and setting Whitby Jet in jewellery.

JOHN: Bass & Vocals.

John, our other founder member, was brought up in South London and moved North in the 1990's. He started playing Classical Piano, Organ and Trombone in his youth and moved onto Bass Guitar in his teens. John is into all kinds of music but especially Soul, Funk, Jazz and Classical. John is our technical wizard and ensures we have the right sound for each venue.

JIM: Keyboard & Vocals.

Jim's from Tottenham in North London and moved to North Yorkshire in 2010. He is primarily a singer and added a bit of keyboards so he could stand behind something on stage. He really enjoys the buzz of playing live and is happy to spend hours 'fooling around' in a studio.

RALPH: Saxophone.

Originally from Enfield, North London, Ralph settled in Scarborough in 1989. After studying Jazz performance at Leeds College of Music he taught for The North Yorkshire Music Service and was Manager at Scarborough Music Centre for ten years until 2024. He enjoys teaching on a private basis and plays Sax, Clarinet and Flute in various ensembles in the area ranging from Jazz, Classical, Pop, Chamber music and of course Soul.

CLIVE: Vocals.
